History of Incidents
Since the start of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine, a number of Russian military commanders have been attacked within Moscow.
This most recent event echoes other notable incidents, including:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a automobile blast in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov died in late 2024 when a device placed on a scooter was set off from a distance.
While a Ukrainian source previously attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such assertions are not publicly admitted as a matter of policy.
The conflict has witnessed covert operations moving into the heart of the Russian capital.
The investigation into General Sarvarov's death is still ongoing.
