Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Devastating Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Memorials across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Support
Mourners assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid law enforcement in the capital.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the principal of her former high school, informed the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Government Revisions
Officials have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor stated on a news program.
Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Impact of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, according to the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” he addressed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
